Young voices

Young Voices is an opportunity for our children to join with children nationally in the biggest choir experiences. We have taken part in young voices for the last 3 years and are very proud to be involved again this year. Thursday 2nd February 2017! Mrs Mills, Lorraine (our singing and music teacher) and Mrs Beavis lead young voices. They rehearse every Wednesday after school.

The choirs involved range from 4,500 to 8,500 children, all performing at the same time to capacity audiences of friends and family.

Nothing can prepare you for the sound of thousands of children singing in harmony. Young Voices combines the power of singing together as one, with accompaniment from a wide range of musicians and artists, to create an amazing performance.

Every year, schools across the country practise our music in class with their teachers to prepare themselves to take part in these massive concerts. Over the years the children in the choir have performed with artists such as Alexandra Burke, Joss Stone, and Gary Barlow as well as raising over 1 million pounds for Children’s charities such as CLIC Sargent.

With a full live band, backing singers and the internationally acclaimed conductor David Lawrence, it makes for one of the most exciting and memorable musical experiences you can imagine.

We are all so very proud of you- not only for the way you threw yourself into the experince but for your sensible and mature attitude at the MEN arena. A great night! Thank you to all parents who came along and hopefully enjoyed the night as much as we did.

On Monday (29.2.16), we took 37 children from years 4,5 and 6 to the Manchester arena to take part in young voices 2016. WOW! What an event! There were 7,064 children who took place. The children have all been working really hard to learn a wide variety of songs from many different genres and new songs specifically written for young voices.

All children have shown great commitment to the whole process and saw all their efforts culminate in an amazing concert.  This is a huge undertaking as a school and it could not have happened without much hard work and dedication from three ladies. Mrs Mills, Mrs Beavis and Lorraine. The work has been done in singing lessons and also at after school clubs.

There are photographs uploaded to the website and all the young voices team have gone into the golden blog this week. We are incredibly proud of what we achieved and as ever the children displayed impeccable behaviour out of school. A great evening of music and young people! Bring on Young Voices 2017!!!!
