Week beginning 19th April 2017

The Gruffalo:

We are  going to be starting our week back reading the book The Gruffalo. Together we are going to learn the Gruffalo song. We have some lovely creative activities planned and we are hoping to find the Gruffalo and his friends hidden around our room.

 

Week beginning 27th March 2017 

The Very Hungry Caterpillar 

This week The very hungry caterpillar will be wiggling his way into preschool. A few of his friends will also be coming to visit too. We will be reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar learning about the life cycle. The children can observe the different bugs looking through their magnifying glasses and counting how many legs they have. We have lots of colourful creative activities planned. 

Week beginning 20th March 2017

SUPERWORM:

In our outdoor area the children had found a really long wiggly worm. Working together they collected different natural resources, leaves, twigs and a sprinkle of mud and they made the worm a home. We have chosen to read the book SUPERWORM who is super long and super strong. During our picnic we had also noticed the birds and listened to them singing. We are planning to make a bird spotting den were we can use our binoculars to watch the birds. 

Week beginning 13th March 2017

SUPERTATO:

This week SUPERTATO has asked for our help to save everyone from the Evil Peas. The vegetables have been hidden around the room and together we are going to rescue them. We have lots of creative activities planned balloon printing to create our Evil Peas and collage Fab ice creams. Together we are going to be making superhero vegetable soup for snack time. What superhero will everyone choose to be? Do they have any special powers and can you catch the Evil Peas and put them back into the FREEZER...

Week beginning 6th March 2017

Pirates Love Underpants:

This week we will be reading Pirates Love Underpants. Yo ho ho! The pirate ship Black Bloomer will be arriving this week looking for the fabled pants of gold. We are going to join the pants pirates special quest hunting for their treasure. We are hoping to find some special chocolate golden coins using our treasure maps. 

Week beginning 27th February 2017         

What the Ladybird Heard:

This week we are reading the story What the Ladybird Heard. We are going to be making Ladybird sun catchers and  more animal crafts. The Ladybird has left us her special map and together we are going to use this to find the prize cow and her special treasure. We are going to learn how to play dominoes counting and matching the spots. 

On Tuesday we are planning to have pancake races throughout the day and together we are going to try some pancakes with special toppings

We are dressing up for World Book Day. Come along dressed as your favourite book character. Looking forward to seeing everyone.  

Week beginning 13th February 2017        

Mr Men Books : 

This week we are going to be reading the Mr Men books. We have chosen these books as we are going to be learning about shapes. We are starting the week off by reading Mr Happy. Other books we will be looking at are Mr Strong however in the old book Mr Strong is shaped like a square but his undated character is more like a  triangle with a six pack. Mr Rush will be arriving at the end of our very busy week. The children will be hunting for shapes indoors and outdoors. We are going to work together using the large shape mats to build rockets, cars and trains adding lots more shapes from around the room. 

Week beginning 6th February 2017          

Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs:

This week we are reading Harry and his Dinosaurs go to school. In the story Harry shares his toys with his friend Charlie together we are going to talk about sharing our toys and taking turns. In the story we meet Harry's sister Sam in circle time we are going to talk about who has a brother or sister. We are planning to have a dinosaur egg hunt in our out door area. How many chocolate Dinosaur eggs will we find? 

Week beginning 30th January 2017          

Elmer the colourful elephant:

Elmer the elephant has arrived this week looking for a lost teddy in pre-school. Working together we are going to help Elmer find the baby elephants teddy. We are going to be talking about our feelings and friendships this week. Would you be sad if you lost your teddy/ special toy and who their friends are? It's going to be a very colourful week with lots of creative activities planned. We plan to have a picnic indoors as it's too chilly outside. We are going to make our own honey teddy sandwiches for the picnic with lots of special treats too. 

Week beginning 23rd January 2017          

Dear Zoo:

This week we are going to be reading the story Dear Zoo. The children had been playing with the zoo/ farm animal and were pretending to be going to the zoo. We have started our week drawing pictures of which animal we would want the zoo to send to us. We have been talking about the different sized animals and placing them in order of size. We are also going to use our Giraffe height chart to measure everyone this week, who will be the tallest. 

Week beginning 16th January 2017          

The 3 Little Pigs:

The children have chosen our next story The 3 Little Pigs. The boys all wanted to be the wolf trying to blow the houses down but they didn't all quite have enough puff. Together we used different materials to build the 3 little pigs houses. The children decided that they wouldn't build houses using straw and twigs because the wolf would eat them and they all needed a house like their Mummy's and Daddy's made of bricks. The wolf was so pleased with all our fantastic work this week he sent us a special present, some Marks and Spencer's Percy pig sweets. Yummy! 

Week beginning 9th January 2017            

The Gingerbread Man:

Pre-school have begun their new theme of Traditional stories / Favourite stories. This week we have been reading the story The Gingerbread Man. The children have enjoyed lots of creative activities our wall display looks amazing. Together we made a large chocolate rice Krispy Gingerbread Man and everyone enjoyed eating him however we did get rather messy.
