Local Community

Shavington village.

Pupil links with the local community are an integral part of Shavington Primary's school life. Throughout the year small groups of children have the opportunity to visit senior citizens in our local community. At Christmas time the children raise funds to purchase boxes of biscuits as Christmas presents for our Senior Citizens. The children wrap and deliver the parcels accompanied by a member of staff, to our local residents. Our harvest festival baskets are distributed locally and children have the opportunity to donate their home made baskets to elderly friends or neighbours.

Parents, Grandparents and the wider community are invited into school annually to share our open days with the children; KS2 children have the opportunity to provide guided tours; children are always very keen to perform this role and quite clearly are proud and honoured to be asked.

At Christmas time we invite the local senior citizens into school to have a Christmas lunch served by the children; followed by watching a performance of the KS1 Nativity.

Throughout the year children have the opportunity to perform musical arrangements to the wider community at local venues including Shavington High School.
