Summer Term Homework

Up until SAT's, the children will be given regular Maths and English homework. We are currently working more on building confidence with our reasoning in our Maths work so this will be our main focus for homework being sent home.

The children will also have spellings set weekly up until SAT's.

After SAT's the children will be allocated parts in the performance and will have lines and songs to learn in preparation for this. Along with this, the children will be given the task of arranging a costume for their role in the performance.

Amongst this preparation, there may be other jobs that the children may wish to work on at home as we work on a range of different cross-curricular projects.

Spring Term Homework

This term Year 6's homework has been adapted slightly. The children have been given a topic grid with the homework task as normal. However, we are only expecting them to achieve 6 of the 12 points as they will be having other tasks set on a weekly basis. If the children would like to attempt more than 6 points then they may do.

Maths and English homework

The children will be having weekly Maths and English tasks set. For Maths, these tasks could range from a Sumdog challenge, contest or assessment to written SAT style questions or word problems. For English, these could range from a Sumdog reading or writing challenge or assessment to a written task or comprehension SAT style questions.

On a Monday, the Maths task will be set and is to be completed/handed in by Thursday.

Then on a Thursday, the English task will be set and is to be completed/handed in on the following Monday.

Spellings and Reading

Along with this homework, the children should be practising their spellings and reading as much as they can at home which will support both their reading ability and their writing.

You may wish to use My Maths to help you to fill any gaps that you feel you have or to help build any confidence with specific objectives in mind.

You can also access Sumdog where there will be challenges and competitions set with the focus of specific learning objectives.

In addition to the MyMaths and Sumdog, which will be set regularly this half term, there are also a selection of grammar tasks attached to the bottom of this page. These tasks can be completed by the children and brought into school to be marked by the teacher if desired.
