Our school believes strongly that cooking is a very important life skill. We have a well established up to date cookery room where all children during the year cook on a regular basis. We have a cookery skills scheme of work in place to ensure children learn and acquire new cookery skills and build on existing ones. The food the children cook is always linked to their topic area in class for their year group. The children take home their cookery to share with their family. Our PSA (Parent, school association) fund our cookery program.
We also run a cookery club and groups of children cook meals for visitors during the year. We have been very lucky to have the food trusts Cookery Bus at school which was a great experience for the children. We also have a Poly Tunel, which was very kindly built on one of our working Saturdays, by children, staff and parent volunteers.
Mrs Dutton and Mrs Mills give up lots of their time to work with all our children to take care of the planting, growing and harvesting of crops both inside the tunnel and from the vegetable patches. We use the food we produce in the cookery room to make a wide range of delicious dishes.
