All classes at Shavington Primary School are taught by a teacher and supported by teaching assistants. Our Maintained Nursery Class is taught by a Teacher and supported by teaching assistants. Our Reception Classes have full time teaching assistants. Classes in both Key Stages are supported by teaching assistants. Some of our teaching assistants are assigned to specific classes and others work with specific children or groups of children to support specific needs.
We also have a number of parent and grandparent helpers who work as volunteers in our school, supporting children's learning across the curriculum.
All teachers plan learning for their classes in line with the new national curriculum. Our planning is detailed, inclusive and differentiated to meet all pupils' talents, skills and abilities.
Every class in each year covers a broad, balanced and creative curriculum. Every year group will have a half termly or termly focus in which a wide range of key skills will be taught. The children will be encouraged through a wealth of different experiences to learn and acquire these new key skills in all areas of the curriculum. The work is aimed at covering the appropriate objectives in line with the New National Curriculum.
In our Reception classes, which is the Foundation Stage, the children work towards the Early Learning Goals. Structured play and hands on experiences introduce the children to the six areas of learning.
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication Language and Literacy
- Mathematical Development
- Knowledge and Understanding for the World
