Year 2 2016 - 2017
We hope that you had a great Easter Holiday and that you are now ready to start the Summer Term. This is not only your last term in Year 2 but also your last term in Key Stage 1!
The theme for our topic this term is "The Seaside". We will be looking at seaside holidays in the past and the present. This topic will prepare us for our residential visit to Llandudno in July. We are already getting very excited about staying in the Youth Hostel in Llandudno as it is a great way to celebrate the end of the academic year.
The children need to have a PE kit in school at the start of each half term. This can remain in school and will be sent home at the end of the half term to be washed. PE lessons take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Every child has access to fresh drinking water throughout the day. Please ensure that your son or daughter has a water bottle in school. This will be sent home every Friday to be washed and refilled with water for Monday.
Your child needs to have their book bag in school everyday. They will change their reading books every week on a specific day when they have guided reading. Regular reading at home will ensure that your child makes good progress.
In Year 2 the classes will have spellings to learn. New words are sent home every Monday and the children will have a spelling test on Friday morning.
Summer term homework
Once again, there is a SummerTerm homework grid for the children to complete. The children need to complete enough homework in the term to gain 12 merit points. There will be a homework exhibition at the end of the term and an opportunity for you to view the pieces of work completed by the classes. The dates for the submission of homework and the exhibition are on the school calendar.
Thank you for your support.
