Year 5/6 Viking Day

Date: 1st Nov 2016 @ 7:36pm

Wow! What an amazing day we've had in year 5 and 6. From start to finish we were captured by the wealth of knowledge from our fantastic visitor from the Danelaw Centre for Living History who completely turned our history to life! We were totally fascinated with all of the amazing artefacts that were brought which enabled us to visualise what life really was like for the Vikings including: the tools they worked with, how they dressed, what they ate and what their homes looked like. We were able to stay dressed as a Viking all day so we were able to fully get into the role of being a Viking! We were able to handle and observe the artefacts, create and mould the shape of an artefact adding our own designs, create and play a Viking game and train to be a Viking in battle using a shield and a spear.

We would like to thank you for supporting us to provide this fantastic educational experience and without the support we would not be able to do so. Not only have we had a fantastic day and a whole new learning experience bringing our topic to life but today will be used to enthuse and fuel our writing. The children will now be able to use their  learning and experience from today to add detail and description to their writing for our Viking topic.
