Year 1 blog week beginning 8.5.16

Date: 8th May 2016 @ 12:35pm

We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  Mrs Rivers set us a challenge to work with a friend or two or three or even four and make a 2D shape with our bodies.  These are the results:

Can you spot a triangle, square, circle and rectangle?  We went on shape hunts around the school - inside and outside.  We can confidently identify a face, edge and corner on a 3D shape.

In our literacy lessons we have been reading a fantastic book by Julia Donaldson called "Room on the Broom."  We had a go at inventing our own potions.

In science Mr Jordan showed us some different eggs.  We compared a quail's egg with a hen's egg.  We measured the eggs and sketched them.  We even broke a few!  We learnt about how the egg shell provides protection for the young, unborn chick as well as providing food.
