Year 1 blog week beginning 23.5.16

Date: 21st May 2016 @ 6:21pm

We have started to learn about multiplication.  First of all we practised putting different objects into arrays.  Once the objects are sorted into rows and columns it is then easier to count how many there are.  We don't need to count on in ones.  Instead we can count in fives.  Here are some arrays.  Jelly baby arrays, Smartie arrays and arrays using our own bodies!

We have been reading the story of "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson - a favourite with many of us.  We walked through the trees in the school grounds and tried to find the Gruffalo.  We couldn't find him!  Could this be the snake's logpile house though?

Every Wednesday Madame Sharp teaches us French.  We are learning a song about animals.  To help us to learn the names of the creatures in french we wear some animal masks.
