Year 1 blog 20.3.16

Date: 20th Mar 2016 @ 5:09pm

This has been a very busy and exciting week in Year 1.  It has been interesting and tiring all at the same time.  On Tuesday all of the children in Year 1 and 2 visited Tatton Park.   Year 2 spent the day working in the Manor, being Victorian servants, whilst Year 1 enjoyed looking at the beautiful gardens. We felt very excited as we sat on the coach and waited for the day to begin.

In the Fern House there was a Roald Dahl exhibition to celebrate the 100 years since his birth.  We spotted some of the characters from his books, such as the BFG.  We enjoyed walking around the different gardens at Tatton Park.  There is an Italian garden, an American garden and an African hut.  This trip has fitted in well with our topic this term of "Around the world in 80 days."

For many children, lunch time was the highlight of the day.  After lunch we all had the opportunity to visit the shop and spend some money.

A great but exhausting day!

On Thursday, Jacob's Mummy very kindly came into school to talk to us about living in the Netherlands.  We learnt lots of new and interesting facts about Holland.  Did you know that most children are born at home and not in a hospital?

We had the chance to play a game that Jacob's Mummy brought into school for us to enjoy.

Finally, we had our sponsored skip on Friday afternoon.  Thankfully the weather was very kind to us.  We had a great time, skipping around the course with our Buddies.
