Welcome back to school Year 6!
Date: 18th Jan 2017 @ 10:39pm
Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely Christmas break and are all rested up ready for our busy Spring term!
We have started thinking about our new topic for this term and have been thinking about the process of mummification. We have researched why and how this was done and the steps of the process that the Egyptians took to make a mummy. We have been working towards writing our own set of instructions along with an introduction. We have also been looking at non-fiction texts and summarising the information into a paragraph.
In our maths work we have been recapping over some prior learning using decimal numbers. We have been looking at knowing the place value of each digit with whole numbers with up to 3 decimal places. We have been adding amounts of money and using this to solve problems in different contexts.
We have started with our Egyptian art of Queen Nefertari using drawing skills to create an Egyptian portrait and using charcoal for the edges. We will be using tempura paint to add colour to our paintings next week!
