Week beginning Monday 5th June 2017

Date: 8th Jun 2017 @ 10:08pm

This week in Year One we have been practising reading real and nonsense words using our phonetic knowledge.  We have also been making up silly names using different sounds for aliens.  Good luck to the children for the Phonics Screening next week!

In English we have reviewed prefixes and suffixes, such as: -un, -ed, -er, -est  and -ing.

In Maths we have been finding 1/2 and 1/4 of a given amount.  We have started to use our knowledge of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to workout multiplication word problems.

In Science we have been naming body parts of a variety of animals.  We really enjoyed creating our own bizarre animals with body parts that belong to lots of different animals!

In Topic we have looked at the layout of an orchestra and learnt about the different musical instrument families such as percussion, brass, woodwind and strings.

We have started to practise a few songs that will be in our class assembly which is on 4th July.
