Week beginning 30.01.17
Date: 7th Feb 2017 @ 10:19am
In year 3 this week we have drafted our letter to King Minos trying to persuade him to change his ways and stop feeding innocent people to the Minotaur! We tried to persuade him by using a counter argument and included connectives and conjunctions to make our writing flow. We have also started to look at playscripts in preparation for our work on 'Ancient Greek Theatre' over the next 2 weeks.
In maths, we have been ordering times on a school day and found it really tricky! We were not sure when we wake up in the morning, what time school begins, when we eat our lunch and when we go home! We have been working extra hard with this and would appreciate you supporting your child with this at home. We have also looked at days of the week and months of the year and did exceptionally well unscrambling and ordering them.
In our afternoon sessions, we have learnt how Ancient Greece was separated into city states and how each of these states was ruled differently. We identified some of the most important city states on a map and matched them up to descriptions. In our science session, we have looked at how the diets of different animals change depending on what their bodies require. We had a go at matching diets to animals based on what we knew about the lifestyle and behaviour of the chosen animal. We have also been working in groups to create our very own Greek inspired pots using paper mache and gummed paper.
