Week beginning 26.09.16

Date: 29th Sep 2016 @ 9:42am

This week in our maths work we have been using mental and written multiplication to multiply 2- and 3-digit numbers by 1- and 2-digit numbers. We have had to use our times table and place value knowledge to help us and will continue to work on checking for errors in our own calculations. To help us with checking our work, we have used rounding to estimate answers to check our final answers are correct.

In English we have transformed into news reporter and have been gathering information regarding the vicious attack on Lindisfarne by the Vikings. We have been reviewing the evidence and have been working out the chronological order of events on the day of the attack. We have started to think about other ways we can gather information and have created a list of probing questions for any witnesses of the attack.

In topic this week we have started to create our next piece of art work - we have used water colours to create the look of the sun set and also the sea which we will be layering on top of each other to create a 3D effect.

We have started to plan and develop a game based on the facts we have learnt about the circulatory system in our science work. We have chosen the type of game and the information we are going to include and create questions about. Some of us have chosen to make a 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' style game and others have chosen to create a board game.

Year 6 Whole School Roles

This week Mrs Nicholls and I have also conducted the interviews for the Head Boy and Head Girl role. The children who were involved in this put a lot of work into their presentations and I would like to thank them for all of their hard work and time given towards this. We have also allocated Prefect roles to those children who applied, again thank you to those children who took the time to apply and write their letter. The names of the children chosen were announced in this week's Special assembly to the rest of the school. (See photos below)
