Week beginning 18th January 2016

Date: 18th Jan 2016 @ 8:18pm

In our literacy work this week we have been making Lila's note longer that she had left for her father explaining why she'd left home. We have considered how Lila would be feeling at this stage in the story and have been looking at the type of character she is.

In Maths this week we have been working with numbers with 1 and 2 decimal places. We have been rounding 1 decimal place numbers to the nearest whole number. We have been multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100 to create 1 decimal place numbers.

We have been looking at the properties of the three states of matter this week in our science work. We have pretended to be a gas, solid and liquid and have tried to act as though we were a particle showing how the particles behave in different ways. For example, solid particles are formed in rows and are tightly close together but they can be moved if you pull, squeeze or shape them.

We have had fun making our dance more like 'volcanoes' and have been trying to incorporate some spikey and smooth shapes.

In our topic work we have been locating some of the famous mountain ranges on a world map and have been experimenting with water colours to create different effects for our volcanic pictures.
