Week Beginning 14th March 2016
Date: 23rd Mar 2016 @ 9:17am
This week we have been looking at persuasive writing and how to persuade the public to attend the Firework Maker's competition to help save Lalchand's life. We have made a poster to advertise the event and also created our own mini trailer using some of the persuasive techniques we've learnt. We used iMovie to create these videos.
In Maths this week we have been working on rounding whole numbers and decimal numbers to the nearest whole number, 10, 100 or 1000. We have been using this skill to solve some problems with increasingly larger numbers.
We have spent time thinking about friendships in Year 4 this week and what being a good friend means to us. We are beginning to think about and recognise what qualities good friends have.
We have started to plan our next science investigation learning about melting and cooling temperatures! Look out for the photos next week!
We had a special treat this week as Layla brought in her Volcano cake that she had made as part of her homework and let us all have a taste! Thank you, Layla.
In Dance we have been practising our routine in preparation for it to be filmed next week. We are looking forward to showing Miss Brock!
We all completed our sponsored Golden Mile today in the hope of raising money for Sports Relief. We also spent some time learning more about Sports Relief and what the charity does for people. We watched a video showing Champa's story who lives in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We heard her story of how she has to go out to work, with her younger brother, to help her family to earn enough money to pay for food. We had a look at the statistics of how many children work in the world and the types of jobs that they have to do to earn some money to help their families.
Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us to complete our Golden Mile - don't forget to bring your sponsor money back into school as soon as possible.
