week beginning 14.11.16

Date: 22nd Nov 2016 @ 10:19pm

Year 1 have had a great few weeks. In maths we have been looking at identifying 2D and 3D shapes. We have been mini detectives hunting around the school for different shapes and have been working hard on how to use our language to be able to describe them. We have also been looking at positional language and how we can locate different shapes and objects in relation to each other. Also, we have been looking at stretching our number knowledge – practicing our digit formation and words for numbers as well as how we represent them.

In English we have been using our knowledge of repeating patterns to create our own stories. It has been great fun reading and sharing our stories. We have also been working hard in our topic work, looking at magnets, how they work and how we can use them to do fair tests. We have also been looking at identifying if things are waterproof and working together to decide what type of material would be best for different jobs.

Year 1 have been working hard in their French lessons. They have been learning songs about food, colours, and rooms in the house and playing lots of exciting games. We have also started working on our Christmas songs- not long now!
